The Story

Concept: Develop an urban infill, medium density mixed-use community offering usable open space and neighborhood retail.

CITISIDE is developed on acreage previously used as a golf course, within an urban district of Charlotte. DPR created a plan that provided a variety of moderately priced housing with extensive open space. The design includes three water quality ponds and a stream mitigation area that will filter runoff from developed areas of the site. These open space areas further serve as aesthetic focal points and recreation areas for the community.

DPR worked closely with the developer and surrounding community during the evaluation of alternative concepts, rezoning of the property, cost estimating, and preparation of site construction plans.

This development received an Honor Award from the North Carolina Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects in 2002.
