The Story

DPR Associates provided site planning and rezoning services to this therapeutic farm to allow the facility to move to its current location. DPR was instrumental in obtaining a variance from excessive buffering and setback requirements which would have made the use of the site impractical.

Joshua’s Farm is located on 21 acres of land within the Charlotte city limits. It will include a barn with an indoor riding arena, an outdoor riding arena, nature trails, an animal interaction area, and greenhouse. Through the programs and activities on the farm, adults and children with special needs will experience improved motor skills, posture, muscle strength and cardiovascular functioning. The skills mastered here lead to increased confidence, self-esteem and foster a sense of independence. Joshua’s Farm exists exclusively on donations and labor provided by dedicated volunteers.
