The Story

Designed by ADW and DPR, this project includes the expansion of an existing campground in Stone Mountain State Park.  The existing campground had 37 sites, and the new campground construction added approximately 50 new campsites.

The project also included a new wash house, amphitheater and well house. DPR designed approximately 1,600 LF of 2-lane roadway and 2,000 LF of a one-lane roadway and the construction of three new bridges over Designated Trout Streams, as well as a new domestic water distribution system consisting of well improvements, hydro-pneumatic tank and pipelines to provide service to the wash house and yard hydrants at each new campsite.  DPR also designed a new on-site sanitary sewer disposal system consisting of a septic tank and nitrification field to accommodate the new wash house.  The existing nitrification field at the existing pump station was enlarged to handle the increased load from the new campground loop, and electrical service was also provided to each site.
